Generative AI Engineer

Role Description

This is a full-time remote position for a Generative AI Engineer at Xcert AI. The Generative AI Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing generative AI features and workflows across our platform, from backend APIs to database integration and model orchestration. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build reliable, scalable, and innovative AI-driven tools for the aerospace industry.

The candidate requires demonstrated expertise in integrating LLM/SLM workflows, RAG systems, and agentic frameworks into production applications. You should be skilled in evaluating model outputs, tracking performance metrics, and ensuring the stability and predictability of AI-powered features.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors or equivalent qualification in Computer Science or related technical field
• 3 years of experience with software development in Python or another language
• 2 years of experience working with LLMs in a production setting, including demonstrated ability with RAG techniques, and agentic orchestration frameworks (e.g. OpenAI Agent SDK, LangGraph, LlamaIndex)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Knowledge of testing frameworks and LLM evaluation techniques
• Knowledge of the full stack: RESTful API frameworks (FastAPI), databases (Postgres, Neo4J, Chroma), and basic frontend knowledge.
• Experience with LLM-inference optimization tools (vLLM, SGLang, Ollama)
• Ability to work autonomously, take ownership and drive ML projects from idea to production

Preferred Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field
• Experience productionising ML systems using tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, model serving, and monitoring/observability platforms
• Strong command of Linux (e.g. systemctl, networking)

Candidates must live in Europe (including Switzerland and UK).

The position is remote, with team gatherings in Switzerland a few times a year.
